Unitree G1 price history, dated

The G1 launched at $16,000 in mid-2024, sat there for roughly 17 months, and sells for $13,500 maker-direct today (August 2026): one clean $2,500 cut, about 16 percent, the only humanoid price chart that actually goes down. Dealers want $17,990 for the same robot; what that buys you is the fine print below.
The Unitree G1 is the one humanoid whose price you can actually chart, and the chart does something almost nothing else in tech does: it goes down. The G1 was announced in May 2024, its store page showed $16,000 by June 2024, and it sells for $13,500 maker-direct today. That is $2,500 off, about 16 percent. And it was not a slow slide: the price held at $16,000 for roughly 17 months, then stepped down once, in late 2025. No hype, no coupon, just a real product getting cheaper on its own store page.
One thing to clear up first, because it trips people: search interest in "unitree g1 price" is up around 50 percent year over year, but the price itself went the other way. More people are looking; the number they find is lower than it was.
The price record
| Date | Price (base G1) | Source | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024-06-23 (earliest store capture, six weeks after the May 2024 launch) | $16,000 | shop.unitree.com via archive.org | archived store page |
| 2025-10-16 | $16,000 (unchanged) | shop.unitree.com via archive.org | archived store page |
| 2025-12-24 | $13,500 | shop.unitree.com via archive.org | archived store page |
| 2026-08-04 | $13,500 (backordered) | shop.unitree.com, live | store page |
Archived captures of the G1 store page from 2024-06-23, 2024-08-28, 2025-01-06, 2025-05-26, 2025-09-18, and 2025-10-16 all show $16,000. The 2025-12-24 capture shows $13,500. Every capture since agrees. So the G1's history is one clean step: a single cut landing sometime between 2025-10-16 and 2025-12-24, and with no captures inside that window, that is as tight as it pins. I am not going to draw a smooth line where the data shows a staircase.
The launch price was never a rumor anyone had to reconstruct, either. Unitree put the number in the title of its own announcement video in May 2024, which makes the starting line of this chart about as official as these things get.
What $13,500 actually gets you
The machine itself: about 1,320 mm tall, roughly 35 kg with battery, 23 degrees of freedom in the standard config (up to 43 on the EDU edition), about 2 hours of battery, an arm load of 2 to 3 kg. It walks, and by all accounts it walks well.
What it is not is a home helper. Unitree's own G1 page tells individual buyers to "thoroughly understand the limitations of humanoid robots before making a purchase" and notes the humanoid industry "is in the early stages of exploration." Out of the box the G1 is a programmable platform, not an autonomous assistant. And the base model "does not support secondary development," so if you want to actually program it, Unitree points you to the pricier EDU edition (contact sales).
The price after the price
$13,500 is the sticker, not the landed cost. Straight from Unitree's product page (August 2026):
- The G1 is currently backordered and "will ship as soon as it is back in stock."
- Shipping runs $300 to $1,200.
- The buyer pays all applicable customs duties, taxes, and import clearance, and must provide a phone number and email for customs.
- There is no warranty information on the product page for an individual buyer, and no described US service network.
So the real out-the-door cost of a G1 is closer to $14,000 to $15,000 before you factor in that a future repair may mean shipping a 35 kg robot back to China.
The dealer premium (why the same robot costs $17,990 somewhere else)
If you meet a G1 anywhere other than Unitree's own store, you are probably paying a markup. As of 2026-07-25:
| Channel | G1 price | Over direct |
|---|---|---|
| Unitree direct | $13,500 | baseline |
| Amazon (third-party listing) | $17,990 | +$4,490 |
| US dealer (per RoboZaps buyer guide) | $17,990 | +$4,490 (~33%) |
| G1 EDU from resellers (RoboZaps) | $43,900 to $73,900 | (EDU is a different, dev-capable tier) |
The ~$4,500 dealer premium is not a scam. It buys US-side logistics, no personal customs paperwork, and sometimes local support, which matters more on a China-direct machine with no stated warranty. Whether it is worth it is a real decision. Just know the direct price exists.
The takeaway
The G1 is the case study this whole site was built to find: a real humanoid, a real store, a real price you can watch move, sold plainly as a research platform instead of a butler. It got cheaper by $2,500. Every other number in this category is either a "target" that keeps drifting up or a price nobody will quote you at all.
If $13,500 is more than you want to spend, the same maker's Unitree R1 starts at $4,900, and I keep the full price ladder here. For where the G1 lands against every other buyable humanoid, see the best humanoids ranked.
